New beginnings for an Ostara new moon
Welcome to the light half of the year - how will you use it to 'fire up' your 2026?

Ostara, the spring equinox always brings a reminder to balance, as we pay attention to the equal day light /night, but in 2026 it falls at a new moon and the start of Aries season so there is a real urge this year to let this time mean new beginnings and time to fire up action.
But remember the call to balance that the equinox whispers so sweetly, pay attention to this voice or you risk burnout to nip neatly at you.
This week, post the beautiful celebrations of Ostara and an unseasonally warm Spring Equinox, I find myself a little surprised and almost disappointed at the chill in the air today. But then I remember, the frost in the morning is more in keeping with Spring, and I can enjoy layering up, sipping hot drinks out in the changing air and the last of the fires in the hearth before Summer is here again.
This week, starting 23 March is the start of the astrological new year in Aries, which brings forward feelings of courage courage, action, and new beginnings. This week is ideal for setting bold goals, taking responsibility for your life's direction, and letting go of old, protective habits to embrace a fresh, authentic path, but I'm listening to all these astrological messages with attention to the weather!
To help me, and hopefully you too, I've put together some journaling/reflective prompts to tap into this energy. I am also ensuring that I make time for a meditation - even if just 10 minutes, before reflecting on these prompts to help me to be 'less in my head' and more in-tune with what will serve me as I pause to write, notice and suspend the critical voice of judgement.
The Power of Starting Now: What new, bold and brilliant dream is stirring inside me, and what is one small action I can take this week to help make it happen?
Build Legacy. The last time Saturn was in Aries (1997-1998) may have brought unexpected or important steps forward, maybe you weren't even born, so perhaps you reflect back on to what you know of this time from family stories. What structures in my life am I being called to build, refine, or take more responsibility for now? What were the learnings from 1997/98 relevant to my life today (even if you weren't born or just a child)?
Authentic Self-Expression: Where am I holding back from being truly myself out of fear of judgment, and how can I express my unique voice this week?
Taking Bold Action: Where in my life am I called to stop sitting on the sidelines and start acting with courage?
Specific prompts relevant to your astrology:
- Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): How can I channel my passions into a specific, productive project
- Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): How can I make changes to daily routines and habits to feel more grounded, capable and courageous?
- Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): What new perspectives are coming to light, particularly in relationships and career?
- Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): How can I trust my intuition when making important decisions about my work, finances and long-term goals
Key dates:
- 23/24th: Start of the week: Reflect on the boldness stirring in you and the fears arising or the actions that seem easy to start - if they are easy to start - stop procrastinating!
- 25/26th: Midweek: Focus on setting firm boundaries and clearing up misunderstandings.
.
- 27/28th: Week end: How have partnerships matured. What can you learn from the past and what do you want to bring forward into your present.
If you only do one thing:
Try creating an "I will" list for the month as your manifestation tool for the month ahead. This is a way to actively take responsibility for your new moon wishes rather than just a passive wishlist.
An "I will" list uses active phrasing, instead of "I want" or "I wish" you start to use the words "I will" and "I am" to show how certain you are and that you own your desires and wishes.
Instead of: "I want more money." try "I will create new, abundance-filled opportunities."
Instead of: "I want to be less scared." try "I will act with courage in my relationships."
If you need help with shifting any of last week's new moon wishes into positive affirmations and an 'I will' list - just connect.
Next week the energy shifts gently, and you'll get a stronger sense of what's blocking you from making this "I will" list happen, so make time at the full moon on 1st April to reflect, pause and release these blocks again and again. The sun in Aries in opposition to the Libra full moon brings the promise of fertilising the growth of what you began last week at the new moon, but heightened emotions, romance, relationship drama are likely to rear their heads to distract you - but also help you reach a realisation of what (on your I will list) really matters.
Book on to our next online moon meditation and connection session to explore these themes together at the April full moon on 1st April.
