New Moon in Sagittarius - time to shoot for the stars!

Time to dream big and wish for the 'moon'

Late on Wednesday 23rd November at 22.57 GMT the moon disappears from view in the sky, entering the peak of the new moon phase. The dark sky of the new moon always make the stars all that more vivid in the sky and so much better to wish upon!

Wishing on the new moon is an old tradition going back hundreds of years, with the belief that as the moon begins to fill the sky again, so your wish would be gathering momentum to come into being for you.

This new moon, sees the moon aligning with Sagittarius and bringing in the energy of ambition and 'shooting for the moon and stars' in our dreams and wishes.  Use this time around the new moon to ask yourself - where am I dreaming too small - and what are the really big dreams I want to 'shoot' for in the coming months/year.  It's OK if these ideas are just little seeds at present or if the answer doesn't come to you at once. Use this time for reflection and resting to see what dreams germinate in the dark of this time of year.

Here are some journaling prompts to help you explore the energy of this new moon in manifesting your dreams. Put on some music and let your mind explore where these questions take you.  Want a meditative playlist to help?  Try our new moon list on spotify here

  • Begin with a review:  share your successes this year - in life, in work, in relationships - friendships, family and love. Where have your ambitions been set back by circumstances and how have you battled those challenges? Celebrate your success.
  • Extend with thanks: What are you thankful for from this year. Yes, some of your thanks are your successes, but many of your thanks go deeper - into those moments of pure joy, freedom and love. Celebrate all that you are thankful for.
  • Start your dreaming
  • What do you want to do before the year ends?
  • What do you wish you could make happen next year?
  • What would you do, if you knew you could not fail?
  • What is stopping you from success and how can you start to break through this to dream your vision into being?
  • Take one step. What one step can you put in motion, before Christmas for the wish on the list that is the most important?

New Moon Ritual

A lovely ritual to do - is to write down your new moon wishes on a piece of paper, framed within a 'bed' of words of thanks and gratitude.  Then step outside under the dark of the new moon and burn your wish filled paper, carefully, under the stars.
