Navigating stress around the lunar and solar cycle

Full moon in a cloudy sky

Ever been curious about how the sun and moon impact your work, mood, energy levels and can even help you find abundance and balance?

No I am neither a sun-bed manufacturer or astronaut. But the sun and moon are helping me with better business and better balance.

How and why?

😎 Living in the UK, I used to get real 'seasonal' lows in the Winter, and then in my 20s I started 'celebrating the seasons' and really noticing the cycle of the sun and light.

Have you ever noticed what a difference watching the sunrise 🌄 or sunset 🌅 makes to your day or week?

Have you taken time in the depths of Winter to get out into the (sun)light, even when grey and overcast?

These simple feel-good mindful moments are proven to increase serotonin and melatonin boosting happiness and quality sleep. Even tuning in to the simple statement and reminder, that as the sun rises and sets each day, it's an opportunity to start afresh and let the day's worries sink into the horizon.

Have you tried 'chasing a sunset', getting outside to watch sunrise, and just finding time in the (sun)light each winter/early spring day? For me, it's definitely a mood booster - and one that helps my focus, resilience, and soother of stress and anxiety.

🌒 And as for the moon, I've been aware for a while that emotions and moods of children, older people (and to be honest most of us) are always heightened at the full moon 🌕  More babies are born, more children struggle to sleep and more people 'misbehave'. But in the past six years, I've taken time to appreciate the way a new moon 🌑 🌒 , almost always offers a new start, and if I plan my month's actions, intentions, dreams and goals at a new moon - I always seem to achieve so much more than when I goal set at another time.

Recently I've taken this further, paying attention to the rest of the moon cycles and it's interesting as the time of the moon I am supposed to feel more energy and strength 🌓 , is definitely the time my focus is higher, I can blitz tasks with a little extra ease. In the same way those times of the moon good for reflection and releasing 🌗 are a more effective (for me at least) time for reviewing goals, analytics, finances and financial admin.

This month's lunar cycle is taking us through two powerful eclipse energies, times that hugely amp up the potential for groundbreaking change. Here's the astrological forecast!

Friday 14 March: Full Moon / Lunar Eclipse in Virgo

Emotions are dramatically heightened during lunar eclipses, and with the full moon in Virgo you may find that your feeling of safety is now related to feelings of order and clarity.

You may have the need to organise what you perceive as chaotic, and while it is spring cleaning ‘season’ you’ll still need to be cautious of where order threatens to control you.

Explore how being more tolerant of apparent imperfections can help you to flow more smoothly through life as you embrace the lessons and blessings of mistakes.

Journaling prompts: My mistakes are teaching me....Being more ordered and organised is needed in.... Being more open and in the flow is needed for....

Friday 21 March: Third Quarter Moon in Sagittarius

The moon in Sagittarius can help you bring a sense of adventure to situations that might be challenging, and it calls you to find fresh perspectives on your sense of purpose and meaning in life.

With the waning third quarter moon, you’ll be asked to release the heaviness of rigid beliefs and stuck emotions that no longer serve you. This can help you come back to your life with more optimism and positivity to make the kinds of small and big changes that help your heart sing.

Journaling prompts: If I could believe in the impossible then I would be open to .....

Friday 28 March: New Moon / Solar Eclipse in Aries

New moons are a time of completion as much as a time of beginning. Winding down from the lunar eclipse in Virgo, you may feel both exhausted from the journey you’ve taken and enthusiastic about the surprises that will soon spring forth ahead.

This can bring discomfort and insecurity to the forefront, and you may find yourself confronting your own resistance to resting and recharging.  Give yourself time and support to integrate the wisdom/noise/challenges and changes of where you have been this month to take your best self forward into the sparky energy of an Aries solar eclipse.
