Wishing upon a new moon to make your dreams happen

Judy Claughton • Feb 12, 2021

How a little bit of dreaming, wishing and planning with the cycles of the moon and season can help aid your wishes to become a reality

To quote Disney "When you wish upon a star, a dream comes true".

And when are the stars brightest? When the sky is dark and the moon is new, hidden by the shadow of our planet.

The moon has long been revered for heightened emotions and helping us let go of pent up feelings (think of the stories of howling at the full moon and the associated 'lune-acy') with new or dark moons associated with planting seeds both literally and in wishes and 'spells' or prayers.

I have been following the moon cycles for a couple of years and I am finding an energy in my work and home-life in planning and dreaming with the new moon and letting go of baggage in between at the full moon.

In Refinery 29, Elizabeth Gulino calls the new moon 'your monthly reset'. Narayana Montúfar, senior astrologer for Astrology.com , comments on the February 11th new moon as 'one with pivotal alignments of six planetary bodies — the Sun, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and the asteroid Pallas — with Aquarius' and explains that this 'builds on our intellectual feelings of wanting to change the world.'

There is a forward-thinking energy in many of us right now and this February new moon is said to bring an energy that will intensify our feelings and help us to take action that makes a difference.

So if your business or life - or world changing humanitarian plans - took a back seat with January lock down it is almost time to dust them off and choose your actions to leap forward...

But wait.. the February new moon is rather special to astrologers who encourage us to wait a few hours before planting the seeds of your wishes and dreams. At the point of the new moon this February, the moon falls out of alignment with the other planets which is said to void any dreams we place within 13 hours of the new moon.... So prepare the ground for dreaming/sowing those seeds... But don't plant them till Friday morning... Or over the weekend!

Then all your wishes and dreams will have the energy of creativity and instinct and boldness in them. You may be filled with sudden sparks of new ideas and inspiration so be ready with your journal and your notebook by your bed for those vivid dreams.

Luck will be on your side so use the new moon to set your goal and plan the first action you can take to making your dreams happen..

Be open to dreaming, to the whispers of your inner voice in your meditation, be open to the power of connection and love through friendship and get read to put some small steps into place to move each of your wishes forward....
